Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDONALD MURDO MACFARLANE 1921 - 2004 On August 18, 2004 Donald Macfarlane quietly passed away at the age of 82 years. He will be sadly missed by his wife Anna (nee Ruman) daughter Heather (Wayne) daughter Nancy (Matthew) son John (Barbara) and grandchildren, Trina and Tara Gogal; Robin, Rory and Ian Ellis, and Brett and Brylee Macfarlane. Donald was predeceased by his parents, Malcolm and Johanna (nee Morrison) and brother John Macfarlane. Donald was born in Winnipeg in 1921 and returned to the Isle of Lewis, Scotland with his family for much of his childhood. He fought in the Second World War for the British Army and was stationed in Burma, Ceylon, and India. Upon discharge, Donald settled in Canada and arranged for his immediate family to join him. Donald began working for the CPR where he met Anna. They would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in September. His was a life of caring and loving. He was a gentle and dedicated family man. He was an inquisitive tinkerer who loved gadgets and could fix anything. His greatest joy was his family who will greatly miss him. Donald spent many treasured days with his grandchildren, who all adored him. In following Donalds wishes, there will be no funeral services and a private family gathering will be held. We would like to express our thanks to the Riverview Health Centre staff. Their caring and compassion is so greatly appreciated. Memorial donations may be made to the Riverview Health Centre Foundation, 1 Morley Ave., Winnipeg, Manitoba R3L 2P4.
