LILIA SIGRIDUR ZIRK (nee GOODMAN) Peacefully on August 20, 2004 Mom passed away at Beausejour Hospital. On September 12th, she would have been 80 years young. Mom will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by husband Leander Zirk, and her daughters Gloria Zirk (Dan), and Diana and Carla Lesosky; grandchildren Gerald Zirk (Lana), Jason Zirk, Angela Baraniuk (Lyle), Sheila Paseska (Brad), and Gina Storsley (Jordan). She is survived by three brothers, Gunni (Kristine), Oli, Bill (Dot) Goodman; and three sisters, Thorey Blow, Kristin Williams, and Gerda St. Louis. Lilia leaves to mourn many nieces, nephews and friends. Mom was born in Wynyard, Saskatchewan in 1924. She lived on the farm and moved to Winnipeg when she was 17 to further her business education. In 1949 she married Tony Lesosky and moved to Stead, Manitoba. Tony and Lilia were happily married for seven years. Suddenly in 1956 Dad died in a farming accident, and Mom was left to raise three small daughters, Gloria, Diana, and Carla. Mom moved from the farm in Stead to raise her family in Winnipeg where she worked as a bookkeeper for many years. In 1970 Lilia married Leander Zirk, and moved back to Stead where she was actively involved in many farm activities. She enjoyed sewing, singing, bowling, square dancing, and hand bell ringing. She was actively involved in community organizations as President of the Eastman Seniors and of the Stead Community Centre as well as Treasurer of various dancing and church ladies groups for many years. Mom was a busy lady who liked to be involved in community and church events, and loved to dance. She touched the lives of many in her quiet, loving way. In the last few years she really enjoyed travelling even though it was difficult for her due to declining health. Lilias funeral will take place on Tuesday, August 24, at Thalberg Trinity Lutheran Church at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Mark Koenker officiating.
