Date of Passing: Aug 21, 2004
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySGT. ROBERT "BOB" JOHN BELL On Saturday, August 21, 2004, Sgt. Robert J. Bell passed away suddenly, but peacefully, at the Concordia Hospital at the age of 84 years. Dad suffered a stroke six weeks previous and never recovered. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Hilda; children, Barb, Arlene, Cathie, Bryan and Kim; his grandchildren, Ian, Dallas, Tacsheana, Benjamin, Maggie, Katarina and Gabbrielle; sons-in-law, Roy and Albert; honorary daughter Tracy; as well as his many friends and family members who have shown their love and support to his family in this time of sadness and remembrance. Bob was predeceased by his parents; daughter Dona; his brother; three sisters; niece; and nephew. Dads last days before entering the hospital were spent with his wife of 64 years of marriage, Hilda, at their cottage in Sandy Hook, MB. He was the most happiest at the cottage where they spent many summers with their children. Bob served his country in the Second World War from 1939 to 1945. When Dad retired in 1991 from the Corps of Commissionaires, he was the longest serving man in the Corps. He was a man who lived by his own terms and always had a joke to share with his many friends and strangers alike. As per Bobs wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. Our family would like to thank Winnie Hill, a very good friend and helper for years, and everyone who offered their condolences and generosity during this time. Your kindness will never be forgotten. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Bobs memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 102 - 310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB R3C 0S6, or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald St., Suite 200, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6.
