DRAGO BANDEL Drago passed away with peace and dignity after a courageous battle with cancer on August 22, 2004 at Riverview Health Centre, with his wife and daughters by his side. He will be deeply missed by his devoted wife of 44 years, Ana; loving daughters, Gordana (Dave) Kinsley, grandsons, Chris and Jonathan; Renata Bandel (Jason Komorofsky), grandsons, Dylan and Logan; Nancy Bandel (Bill Watchman), grandson Alexander. He is also survived by his "Burazer", Zlatko and Tonka Skendrovic, cousins Theresa and Raymond Roy, Pat and Denny Vinczeffy, Steven and Emily Esterreicher, Joe and Martha Esterreicher, and Johnny and Faye Libler. Drago was born in Zagreb, Croatia and immigrated to Canada with his young family in 1970. He raised his family and made many lasting friendships during his life. God saw you getting weary, and a cure was not to be. He knew that you were suffering, So He wrapped you in His loving arms, And He closed your weary eyes. He did what He thought was best, He came and stood beside you, And whispered "Come and rest, peace be thine." You suffered much in silence, Your spirit did not bend, You faced your pain with courage, Until the very end. You tried so hard to stay with us, Your fight was all in vain, God took you in His loving arms And saved you from much more pain. Our hearts still ache with sadness, And secret tears will flow, For what it meant to lose you, No one will ever know. Peace be yours dear Bampa Its sweet to breathe your name, As in life we loved you, So in death we do the same. Someday, we know not when, We will meet you again. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the doctors and staff of Riverview Health Centre for the special care given Drago during his stay there. Flowers are gratefully declined. Friends so wishing may make a donation in Dragos memory to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., R3E 0V9, as a token of remembrance.
