Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFRED WIESS Suddenly on Sunday, August 22, 2004 Fred Wiess passed away at the age of 71 years. Fred will be fondly remembered by his sons, Jordan (wife Gail), and Terry (wife Shelley) grandson Liam; sister Edith; and best friend Alan. He also leaves many friends, relatives and acquaintances. Fred was predeceased by his wife Aline, parents Joe and Auguste and his sister Helena (Lena). Fred was born on March 13, 1933 in a farmhouse in South Eastern Saskatchewan, but moved to East Selkirk shortly thereafter with his family. There he worked on the family farm, attended grade school, and held several jobs. Fred began his career at the Manitoba Rolling Mills at an early age, and worked there until his retirement after 42 years of service. In July 1962, he married Aline Grosjean in Selkirk where they spent their lives together and raised their family. Fred was an avid hunter and fisherman, and spent much time with his boys in the bush and on the water. He taught them to respect the land and wildlife in his own personal way. Fred was also known to drive several thousand miles just to put a Halibut in the boat. A memorial and celebration of Freds life will be held on Friday, August 27, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, 309 Eveline St., Selkirk, with Pastor Dave Saude officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Alan Wiess, Peter Goers, Steve Chanas, Clarence Todd, Jim Selstead, John Fial, Helmut August, Chuck Law, and Bill Anderson. The family thanks the doctors and health care workers, in both Manitoba and Anchorage, for their support and care for Dad over the past year. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations can be made in Freds memory to the Canadian Cancer Society, Manitoba Division, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
