BERTHA DICKSON (nee GIBSON) 1918 - 2004 Peacefully on Wednesday, August 25, 2004, Mom went to join our dad Bob; her parents, George and Bertha Gibson; brothers, George and Charles; and sister Dora. She is survived by her daughter Linda (Michael) Starosilec and son Jim (Heather) Dickson; grandchildren, Shawn (Susan) and Rob (Glenda) Starosilec of Winnipeg, Regan (Clint) Nerbas Okotoks, AB and Tyler Dickson of Winnipeg. Also missing her are her five great-grandchildren, Darrell, Alyssa, Brett, Megan and Ruby. Also her sister Jaye Hanna in California and numerous nieces and nephews. Moms nieces and nephews travelled to Winnipeg last September to honour her on her 85th birthday. This was a wonderful testament to the great lady that she was. Mom was such a caring person not only with her family but with her many close friends. She had a generous and loving heart and was always willing to do for others. Mom grew up in West Kildonan moving to Fort Rouge in the 1950s and residing there for over 30 years. She worked for Thompson, Dorfman, Sweatman until retiring in the 1970s to work more closely with our dad. Mom attended First Presbyterian Church for many years making many good friends. The family would like to thank Home Care services, in particular Diana and Avril and Palliative Care nurses, Jo and Norma. Also the wonderful staff at the Riverview Health Care Centre, Dr. Garcia, Linda D., Alina, Wayne, Margaret and many others who were so good to our mom. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Monday, August 30 at 10:30 a.m. in Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 109 - 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9 or a charity of your choice.
