Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDITH LILY COCKSHOTT On August 23, 2004, Edith passed away peacefully at the age of 94 years at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg. Edie was born in Winnipeg on January 16, 1910 to Wilfred A. and Lily F. Cockshott. She was predeceased by her brother Wilfred Cecil Cockshott in 1977; her nephew Harrys wife Florence in 1999; and her sister-in-law Gladys (Jamie) Cockshott on May 31, 2004. Edith, affectionately called Edie, spent her later years living at the Westhaven retirement residence, 3033 Portage Ave., Winnipeg. Edie enjoyed the many social activities available there, the friends she met at the residence, and the loving care given to her by the staff. The Cockshott family extends our most sincere gratitude to all of you who made her days so pleasurable these past several years. Edie is survived by her two nephews, Harry Cockshott and Art Cockshott (Joan) her great-nieces and nephews, Gary (Caryl), Carol (Yale), Shirley, Linda, Robert (Inge), Grant (Aynsley) and her great-great-nephews, Owen, Benjamin and Noam. Edie adored children and the three little ones added much enjoyment to her life. Edie was employed for several years at Monarch Lumber and later, until her retirement, at Cargill Grain in Winnipeg. Edie leaves behind the cherished memory of a woman much loved for her kindness and compassionate manner which endeared her to all those who were fortunate enough to know her. Edies long life may be attributed to her happy personality and positive attitude toward life. In accordance with Edies wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Monday, August 30 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. with Rev. Gordon Shields officiating. Interment to follow at the Elmwood Cemetery family site in Winnipeg. Flowers are gratefully declined. If so desired, donations may be made in her memory to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Ave, Winnipeg, MB R3A 1P6 or to a charity of your choice.
