Date of Passing: Aug 28, 2004
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBRYCE WILLIAM RANKIN LAWRENCE Peacefully, surrounded by family on August 28, 2004, Bryce passed away at Grace General Hospital at the age of 86 years. Bryce was predeceased in 2002 by Alice, his wife of 62 years. He lovingly supplemented her care for her last seven years. He is survived by his daughter Carol (Gerald) Lawrence of Calgary; son David, with daughter Colleen, of Edmonton; sister Vera (George) Grandy of Brantford, ON; as well as close friends Linda and Merrill Groff of Winnipeg. He will also be missed by extended family and friends. Bryce retired from TD Bank after many years of service. He was an honorary life member of the Winnipeg Game and Fish Association and served as a Board member for over 40 years. He volunteered with the Golden West Centennial Lodge Auxiliary and brought a fresh lightness to the Lodge. He recently became a member of Lions Club (St. James). Bryce was far younger in mind and spirit than his age. He loved people and his engaging nature and jovial humour quickly turned strangers into friends. He was always a social leader in playing cards and games. He had a creative mind for fixing mechanical things, using the right tools and the right amount of duct tape. He had a green thumb, enjoying gardening and more recently, indoor plants. Although he knew every road in the city, he got greater pleasure taking family, visitors and friends on country drives. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 7 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Interment will follow. The family would like to thank the staff at Grace General Hospital for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bryces memory to Grace General Hospital Foundation, 300 Booth Dr., Winnipeg, MB R3J 1M7 or to the charity of ones choice. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE 885-9715 Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolence at www.chapellawn.mb.ca
