ESTHER AUDREY LOEWEN Esther passed away on Sunday, August 29, 2004 at the Victoria General Hospital after a dignified and courageous battle with cancer. He beloved husband John was at her side. She was predeceased by her parents, Peter and Magdalena Wohlgemuth; brothers, Ben, Albert; and sister Henrietta; and sister-in-law Lena. Esther is survived by her husband John; her children, Tamera (Irv) and Michele (Chris) and her grandchildren, Alexander, Nicole, Samantha and Andrew. Left to mourn are her brothers and sisters, Henry, Jake (Viola), Melvin (Lois), Elmer (Tina), Linda; sister-in-law Nellie; and "special sister" Mary. Also Johns brothers and sisters, Mary, Minna, Peter (Caroline), George (Kathy), Eddie (Lydia), Wilma, Anna (Bill), and Valida (Victor) and many nieces and nephews. Esther was born in Winnipeg on October 21, 1936. She was chosen to enter the Wohlgemuth family on August 24, 1937. She grew up on a farm outside of Landmark, MB. Esther married John Loewen on July 15, 1961 in Steinbach. Together they operated a mixed farm outside of Steinbach. They loved to travel and visited many countries around the world. Esther enjoyed wintering with her husband in Mesa, AZ for many years. After she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in early March, 2002, Esther and John enjoyed several cruises with friends. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 2 at 2:00 p.m. at the Winnipeg Evangelical Free Church, 500 Lagimodiere Blvd. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of the Oncology Department of the St. Boniface General Hospital, the staff of the Intensive Care Unit of the Victoria General Hospital, Dr. Soni, and Dr. Varma.
