Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN PETER TALAGA After a lengthy illness and a three month stay at Percy E. Moore Hospital, Dad answered Gods invitation to follow Him on Sunday, August 29, 2004. Dad was predeceased by his parents, Blazek and Maria Talaga; his brothers, Anthony, Joseph and Frank; his sisters, Mary, Antonia and Anne; his son-in-law Bill Swar. He is survived by his loving wife, of 72 years and nine months, Anne Podaima; his daughters, Tillie (Ed) Malenchak and Margaret Swar; his sons, Leonard and John (Gladys). He will be missed by his 17 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. Dad was born in Poland on June 8, 1907 and at the age of six he immigrated with his family to Canada. He homesteaded in Broad Valley, MB and farmed there until his retirement. In 2002, he moved to the Fisher Branch Chalet where he resided until his illness. Dad was an adventurous pioneer. He broke new land, trained horses, drove the first car (Model T) in the area and therefore chauffeured many people to doctors appointments, practiced as the areas unlicensed veterinarian, instigated unions and cooperatives, and served on numerous boards and committees. We was recognized as an excellent marksman and skillful deer hunter. Inspite of all his community involvement he treasured his wife, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Their visits to the hospital were always greeted by a genuine smile and a handshake. Cremation has taken place. The funeral mass will be held on Friday, September 3, at 11:00 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Fisher Branch, MB. The Holy Eucharist will be celebrated by Fr. Michael Raj Savarimuthu. Interment will take place at a later date in St. Anthonys Cemetery in Zbaraz, MB. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fisher Personal Care Home or the Fisher Branch Handi-Van both in Fisher Branch.
