THOMAS GEORGE WADGE On Sunday, August 29, 2004 at the Carman Memorial Hospital in Carman, MB, Thomas George Wadge, aged 88 years of Roland, MB. George leaves to cherish his memory, daughter Katherine Wadge and Ian Baker of Ottawa, ON; son Keith Wadge and Carol Wadge of Carman; four grandchildren, Greg and Matthew Downing and Amanda and Luke Wadge. He was predeceased by his wife Muriel, his parents, mother and father-in-law, one brother Ray, and one niece Wendy. George was born August 7, 1916, near Roland, the second son of Thomas and Olive Wadge. He was raised on the family farm near Roland. In 1952 George met his future wife Muriel who had transferred from Treherne, MB to Roland as chief operator for Manitoba Telephone System. They were married on October 10, 1953. George farmed with his father until he purchased the farm, then farmed alone until 1981 when his son Keith took over farming for five years. In 1986 the farm was rented out to other interests, and then in 2001 the farm was sold. Dad was an avid coin and stamp collector and in early years curled. His children were special to him and he always supported their interests in life, be it sports or 4-H. His four grandchildren were very, very special to him and his many visits with them will be cherished always. George and Murial retired from the farm to Roland in 1986. His enjoyment of friends and relatives were far reaching. Dad will be truly missed by family, friends and all he met. He was a remarkable father and grandfather. Funeral service will be held from Roland United Church in Roland on Wednesday, September 1 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Harry Ritchie officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Roland.
