HELEN LOTHIAN With family at her side, we announce the passing of our dear mother on August 30, 2004 at the age of 83. She was predeceased by her daughter Elaine in 1985 and her loving husband John in 1998. She will be sadly missed by her children, Elaines family Bill Presloski and their children, Laura, Sherri and Jana, Carolyn (Rod) Bond and their children, Shayne (Tricia), Wade and JC, Betty Ann (Myles) Hanley and their children, Derek (Lara) and Tracy, Leroy (Lynn) Lothian and their children, Shaun (Andrea), Christopher and Alyssa; six great-grandchildren; sister Jean Mathieson; sister-in-law Janet Russell; brother-in-law Edward Tascona as well as many nieces, nephews and good friends. Mom was born May 26, 1921 in Grenfell, SK and soon after the family moved to Wapella, SK where mom lived until she finished high school. She then moved to Winnipeg to find work and it was here that she met dad. They were married in April 1944 and together they raised four children in St. James. Mom loved ceramics, playing the organ, gardening, word puzzles, travelling, shopping, watching the Young and the Restless on TV, and talking about current affairs and politics. Her home was her castle and she loved to decorate. Mom was a long standing member of Sparling United Church and during these last few years she was only able to watch Sunday morning church programs on TV. The family wishes to express their special thanks and sincere appreciation to Dr. Breckman, Dr. Harris, Dr. Hutfluss, Palliative Care and Home Care staff. It was only with all their help and direction that we were able to respect Moms wishes and care for her at home. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, September 3 at Neil Bardal Inc. 984 Portage Ave. (entrance on Aubrey Street) followed by a gathering of family and friends in the reception area. Interment will be at Chapel Lawn 4000 Portage Ave. following the reception. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., R3C 9Z9 or Sparling United Church Memorial Fund, 1609 Elgin Ave., R3E 1C4. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200
