MARILOU BRAVO PONCE 1977 - 2004 It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the untimely passing of our wife, mother, daughter, granddaughter, sister, aunt, niece and special friend, Marilou Ponce. Marilou was born in Manila in the Philippines on September 20, 1977. She moved to Canada with her family in September of 1988. Her friends and co-workers at Dufresne Furniture will attest to her strength of character and strong work ethic, but its with her quiet demeanour that "Malou," as she was known to her close friends and family, touched hearts with small gestures and a warm spirit. Everywhere she went, her helping hand followed, and her sense of humour enlightened those around her. She was beautiful, strong and kind. She is survived by her loving husband Gilles Laurin; her eight year old son Ian and her newborn son Patrick. Her parents Samuel Sr. and Rosalinda Ponce; along with her siblings, Rommel (Ellen), Ronnie, Samuel Jr. and Minette will miss her dearly. Her niece and nephews, Clarence, Jonas, Cole and Mireille will miss their "Tita." Her loss will be felt by her in-laws, Paul, Vivianne, Lizanne (Dean Abbott), Annette (Paul Marcoux). Funeral service to be held at St. Timothys Parish on Friday, September 3 at 10:00 a.m. Viewing one half-hour prior to the funeral. Interment will follow at the St. Vital Cemetery. Lamay will be held on Thursday, September 2 from 6:00 p.m. to midnight at St. Timothys Parish, 135 John Forsyth Rd., Winnipeg. Goodbye Sweet Angel LECLAIRE BROTHERS in care of arrangements. 775-2220.

  • I would like to first say how deeply sorry and deeply saddened I am for the family of Marilou. I am deeply sorry for not being able to share my thoughts right away as I was not aware of her passing. I just happened to Google her name because I was just amazed of how I was able to remember the 3 names that I knew her from. How many people can you recall including their middle name? But back to what I was saying...Marilou was an awesome gal. I first met her in grade 7. She was shorter than me but she had a big heart. She was the only one that believed in me so 8n turn it was not that hard for me to take her as my friend. She never judged anyone, she was always laughing, made others laugh and it would be an honor to be in her circle of friends. I wish that I was able to get to know know her better and who knows maybe our friendship would have blossomed to something further. But it is okay because I knew that I wasn't boyfriend material until I was in my 30s and by then it would have been too late for either of us. I didn't want to believe it, but when I saw her picture, I knew that it was definitely her. She had that unforgettable beautiful smile that stuck with you even when you are down and then it brings you back up afterwards. Thank you Marilou, I will definitely miss you dearly as a true friend and as a real genuine great person. - Posted by: Joenel Paraton (Classmate in Grade 7) on: Feb 20, 2021
