STEFA GUSTYS On Thursday, September 2, 2004 Stefa Gustys passed away at the Seven Oaks Hospital. Stefa was born in Lithuania on November 15, 1921 and immigrated to Canada with her husband Frank in 1949 after enduring the hardship of four years in the forced labour camps in Germany. Initially residing in Pickle Crow, ON until the mid 50s, the family moved to Winnipeg. During this period she was employed by the O-Kum-Inn Restaurant next to the old Free Press building. The family then moved to Kenora, ON, where she worked at the prestigious Kenwood Steak House. Semi-retirement close by, she then was employed at the Lake of the Woods Hotel. Finally Frank and Stefa moved back to Winnipeg to be close to the family. She was a long time member of St. Casimars Roman Catholic Church. She was predeceased by her husband Frank; and son Danny. Stefa leaves to cherish her memory her son Wilf, wife Bev; daughter Gertie, husband John; three grandchildren, Stephanie of Halifax, NS; Carol of Winnipeg; Lisa, husband Dave of Windsor, NS; great-granddaughter Lily of Windsor, NS. Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 7 at 11:00 a.m. at Knysh Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main St. A private family interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff on the 4th floor Lyons Personal Care Home for all the kindness shown to our mother. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations may be made in her memory to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation, or to the Manitoba Humane Society. "We love you and we will miss you. You will always be remembered."
