Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKLARA MARTINENKO (nee FAST) On Thursday, August 26, 2004 Klara at the age of 87 years, passed away after a lengthy illness with her beloved husband and family by her side, at Holy Family Nursing Home. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband George, sharing 67 years together; sons, Victor (Benita), Tony and Walter (Sharon) grandchildren, Shane (Linda) and Tanya; great-grandson Anthony; and brother Alex (Shirley) and sister Irna in Kazakstan. Klara was born in Barwenkowo, Ukraine on September 16, 1916. Klara was predeceased by her parents, Peter and Margarita Fast; brothers, Peter and Herman; sisters, Greta, Lydia and Katya. Klara studied to be a Veterinarian in Prischib-Halbstadt and trained for the 1936 Olympics. Klara and George were married on July 23, 1937 and they had twin girls, who passed away 10 days after birth. During the war years, the family was relocated to a refugee camp in Germany and from there, immigrated to Canada. Her greatest joy involved her family. She was a great supporter and always encouraging, loving and proud of everything they did. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Holy Family Nursing Home for their kindness and compassion they gave to Klara and support for her husband and family during this difficult time. A family service at Glen Eden was held on Saturday, August 28. Our Thoughts And Memories Will Be Forever With You "Your Loving Family"
