MONICA CATHERINE MELVILLE (nee DELANEY) Peacefully, on Wednesday, September 1, 2004, Monica Catherine Melville passed away at the Victoria General Hospital with her family by her side. She was predeceased by her loving husband John (Jack) and by her son-in-law Gregory Bakun. Mona will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Kathleen; sons, Robert (Diane) and James (Ann) and her grandchildren, Lana, Jared, Caitlyn and James. Mona was born to Catherine and Arthur Delaney on February 16, 1917 in Winnipeg, MB. She was one of ten children. She grew up in the St. James area of Winnipeg, attended St. Anns School and graduated from St. Marys Academy in 1936. She then worked at the CNR office in Winnipeg for ten years and had many fond memories of her colleagues and travels. Mona was a loving mother and grandmother and was extremely proud of her children and grandchildren. She especially enjoyed spending summers at her cottage at Winnipeg Beach. Mona was a longtime member of St. John Brebeuf Church and of the Catholic Womens League. She was an honorary life member of St. Marys Academy Alumni and the National Shrine of St. Jude. She was a member of the Rochester, MN Chapter 1645 Women of the Moose. Funeral mass will be celebrated by Msgr. Ward Jamieson at the St. John Brebeuf Roman Catholic Church, 1707 John Brebeuf Pl. in River Heights on Tuesday, September 7 at 11:00 a.m. The service will terminate at the church.
