BRONIA SHIPPER After a brief illness, Bronia Shipper passed away on Thursday, September 2, at Seven Oaks Hospital. Bronia was born in Stopnica, Poland on June 7, 1920, the daughter of Moishe and Golda Miller. A survivor of the Holocaust, after the war she married Shulim (Sam) Shipper and settled in New York, later moving to Winnipeg to be near her sisters. Their only child, Golda, died in the 1950s and Shulim passed away in 1976. Bronia also was predeceased by her parents Moishe and Golda Miller, her sisters, Fay Herscovitz, Manya Baumel, Rachel Fridman and Mirka Lokiec, her brothers, Joseph, Jacob, and Leon Miller, brothers-in-law Chaim Fridman, Isser Lokiec and Pinya Baumel, and her grand niece, Rhianna Webster-Baumel. Bronia will be missed by all who knew her and enjoyed her wry sense of humour and playful nature, including her nephews Morris and Syd Baumel and her niece Faye Minuk and their families, the staff at the Sharon Home, her many friends and acquaintances and her devoted nursing home companion Susan Stenson. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, September 5 at 11:00 a.m. at the Shaarey Zedek cemetery.
