Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHELEN ANNE STONYK (nee BEDNAR) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Helen Stonyk on September 4, 2004 at the Grace Hospital at the age of 81 years. She was predeceased by Michael, her beloved husband of 53 years in 1999. Helen is survived by her sons, Richard (Karen), Brian (Bonnie) and Ken. Helen is lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Mark, Pamela, Michael and Nicole. Helen is also survived by her brother Frank Bednar; sister Stella Findlay and numerous nieces and nephews. Helen attended Lord Roberts, Kelvin and business school. Her earliest employment was at Paulin Chambers, and the Wheat Acreage Board. She worked at TCA, in the airplane parts ordering department during the Second World War. There she made many life long friends. Helen also developed a remarkable memory, and still could recite part numbers for DC3 aircraft. Helen married Michael in 1946, and they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1996, surrounded by their children, friends and relatives. Helens world revolved around her family, for whom she prayed daily. She was happiest preparing family dinners, visiting, and hearing of the accomplishments of her growing family. Helen offered lavish hospitality to all, and befriended a succession of neighbourhood children and their pets. Helen possessed a great amount of energy and determination that kept her active in recent years, as she experienced growing health problems. She continued to give of herself selflessly. Our world has become smaller without her. The family extends thanks to the emergency paramedics and Grace Hospital staff who cared for mom during her sudden final illness. Funeral service will be held on September 11 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, remembrances of Helen may be made to the charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE 885-9715 Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolence at www.chapellawn.mb.ca
