VIOLET EMMA FREEMAN September 15, 1924 - September 6, 2004 At the Victoria Hospital on September 6, Emma passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with many health issues. Emma is survived by her children, Charles Hugh (Corrine) of Halifax, NS, Marion (Jack) Simpson, Bob (Judy), and Gary; grandchildren, Cyndy (Mike) Szwaluk, Murray (Tammy) Simpson, Mark, Jodie, Rick and Zachary; and great-granddaughter Amanda Szwaluk. Emma is also survived by her siblings, Hugh (Thelma), Dennis (Betty), Dorothy, Louise (Bob) as well as many nieces, nephews and her adopted family at the Fort Rouge Legion. Emma is predeceased by her husband Aubrey; son David; and siblings, Edna, Gordon, Euphie, Betty, Pat and Bertha. Born at Winnipeg Beach, MB, Emma married Aubrey in 1944 during a March snowstorm. Emma worked for many years at the Municipal Hospital, where she became involved with C.U.P.E. Local 500, earning an honorary life membership. She was very active at the Fort Rouge Legion in many capacities. Very special thanks to her doctor and friend, Angus McGowan for his friendship and care over the years; Dr. S. Domke; and the wonderful staff at the Victoria Hospital. A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 10 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., followed by a reception at Fort Rouge Legion, 426 Osborne St. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE 885-9715 Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolence at www.chapellawn.mb.ca
