JEAN PATRICIA MacKENZIE (nee FISHER) 1905 - 2004 Peacefully, on September 6, 2004, at Poseidon Care Centre, Jean MacKenzie passed away in her 100th year, surrounded by family. Predeceased by her loving husband Bill in 1967 and sister Mae in 1990, Jean was mother to Evan (Irene) and Mary (Bill) Matthews; grandmother to, John (Jill), Brent (Lindsay), David and Sandra, great-grandmother to Kyle, Luke and Duncan. For many years Jean lived across the street from Westworth United Church where she was an active member. For two decades she assisted with the Explorer girls program. She was also a volunteer at Misericordia Hospital for 25 years. Jean enjoyed bowling, playing scrabble, bridge and solving the daily Jumble. In her earlier years, Jean golfed extensively at Southwood Golf and Country Club with the womens "niners". Our mom loved her family and especially her grandchildren. She followed their lives and careers with much pride. Many thanks to the wonderful staff at Poseidon Care Centre for their care over the last four years and especially for their gentleness and compassion at the end. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life "Tea" will be held on October 1, afternoon at Westworth United Church. Call for details 489-6974. Flowers are gratefully declined.
