CLEMENT P. NIVON Passed away on September 5, 2004 at the Linwood P.C.H. in Edmonton at the age of 84 years. He was predeceased by his wife Robin, several years ago and did not have any children. He was predeceased by his brother Marcel; sisters, Marie, Illian and Josephine. He is survived by cousins, Noel and Albert Cantin; nieces and nephews, Raymond, Gilles, Odile, Denise, Clement, Lucille, Elaine, Denise and Alice-Ann. Clement was born at Somerset, MB. When his parents passed away he and his two sisters moved to McCreary in 1933 to live with his mothers sister and they became part of the Cantin family. While attending school at McCreary, Clement joined the Fort Garry Horse Reserve. When war broke out in 1939 he enlisted with many other young men from that area and trained as a tank commander. He landed in Normandy on D-Day going through France, Belgium, Holland and Germany to the end of the war. His post war occupation was as a carpenter at McCreary and he subsequently moved to Edmonton and was the maintenance carpenter at the University. During his career and following his retirement Clement was very active in the Royal Canadian Legion at McCreary and then in Edmonton. For many years Clement made annual visits to McCreary to be with relatives and friends. Funeral service will be held in Assumption Roman Catholic Church in Edmonton on Thursday, September 9 at 1:00 p.m.
