Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMAXWELL ADDISON PARKER Maxwell Addison Parker passed away peacefully at Virden District Hospital on Thursday, September 9, 2004. Max will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by his son Brian (Gail) of Carman and their daughter Marnie (Brian) Foreman and great-grandchildren, Madison and Brayden of Winnipeg. Also surviving are sisters-in-law, Sally Parker and Irene Parker of Strathclair; as well as nieces and nephews. Max was born to Fred and Della Parker on the family farm at McConnell, MB on February 2, 1912. He was pre-deceased by his parents; sisters, Helen and Ruth; and brothers, Ted, Joe, Bruce and Rod. Max was educated at McConnell and the University of Manitoba. He taught high school in Cardale and Virden and was principal of Elm Creek and Treherne Collegiates for ten and 17 years respectively. During his years in education he served the provincial Department of Education on different High School Curriculum Committees and the Manitoba High School Examination Board. He retired after 38 years of teaching in 1972. Wherever he lived, Max was always active in community endeavours enjoying and appreciating the friendships made. In 1938, while teaching in Cardale, Max married Muriel Dodge and upon retirement they both enjoyed 14 winters in Mesa, Arizona where they made countless new friends whom they much appreciated. Max was an avid outdoorsman. He loved camping, fishing and hunting. He was also an ardent sportsman enjoying baseball, soccer, golf, curling and hockey. However, probably his greatest love, outside his family, was the multitude of young people to whom he was dedicated in his career in education. They were all very special to him. Since November 2000, Max and Muriel were living in The Sherwood in Virden until Muriels passing in February 2002. Max continued his residency there until his passing. The family would very much like to extend an appreciated and sincere "thank you" to all the staff at The Sherwood and the Virden District Hospital for the most kind and excellent care that Max and Muriel received. A funeral service will be held at G. R. Carscadden Funeral Chapel in Virden, MB on Tuesday, September 14 at 2:00 p.m. with Jaclyn Evaschesen officiating. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, memorial tributes in Maxs memory may be made to a charity of ones choice. Well all miss you, grandpa Max.
