ERNA GUENTHER (nee HOOGE) Peacefully, on September 5, 2004 at the age of 94, our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away at Bethania Mennonite Personal Care Home of Winnipeg. She was predeceased by her loving husband Jacob A. Guenther; son Morley and granddaughter Mona. She is survived by her three sons, Larry (Fawnie) of Vernon, Ray (Verna) of Winnipeg, Roy of Vancouver; two daughters, Emily (Peter) Dyck of Gimli, Carol (Doug) Jackson of Winnipeg; 16 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren; brother Menno of Clearbrook, B.C., and sister Lillian of Saskatoon, SK. Erna was born to the J.B. Hooges of Plum Coulee in 1910. She received her education in Winkler and spent most of her life in that community. She was well known for her creativity and teaching of sewing. She and her husband enjoyed travelling and serving in the Mennonite Brethren Church. Her final years were spent in Winnipeg. Funeral service will held at the Winkler Mennonite Brethren Church, 120 Pineview Dr., Winkler, MB on Saturday, September 11 at 1:00 p.m. Viewing will be held at the church prior to the service. Interment will follow at Winkler Cemetery. Special Thanks to the caring staff at Bethania Mennonite Personal Care Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gideon Bible Society.
