LUCINA (LUCY) MARIE WALKER (nee SMITH) It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Lucina Marie Walker on Wednesday, September 8, 2004, surrounded by her family, at the Grace General Hospital at the age of 67 years. She is survived by her loving husband John, of 42 years of marriage; son Dale (Cheryl) daughter Lisa (Peter) grandchildren, Serena, Breandan, Garrett, Christopher and Tylynn; mother Marie Smith; brothers, Albert (Olga), Allen (Carole) and Terry (Val) sisters, Anita (Mike) and Linda (Wayne) as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Lucy was predeceased by her father Garnet in 1989; infant brother Raymond in 1935; and brother Melvin in 1981. Lucy was born on November 25, 1936 in Laurier, MB and lived there until 1949 when her family moved to Rivers, MB. She resided in Rivers until September 1952 when she moved to Winnipeg and was employed with the T. Eaton Co. until 1962. In May 1962, she married John and moved to Halifax, NS to become a navy wife. Lucy returned to Winnipeg in June 1968 where she lived until her passing. She was a very loving, caring and giving person and was always there to help others. Lucy felt a great sense of belonging at St. Pauls the Apostle Church where she had many longtime friends. She was actively involved in many church activities and will be greatly missed. It was Lucys longtime wish to have a monument erected in her brother Raymonds memory, who is interred in Laurier, MB. She was a few days short of realizing her wish, which our family plans to fulfill. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Monday, September 13 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Paul The Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 2400 Portage Ave. with Rev. Fr. Mark Tarrant presiding. A private interment will take place at a later date. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in Lucys memory may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9 or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald St., Suite 200, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6.
