RUDOLPH CHRISTIAN APPLER (RUDY) May 21, 1913 - September 8, 2004 Peacefully on Wednesday, September 8, 2004, Rudy passed away at the Fred Douglas Lodge at the age of 91 years. Rudy is survived by his wife Julia; sons, Harold (Bobbi) and Terry; grandson Salis (Kammy) sisters, Ella and Dorothy; and several nieces and nephews. Rudy was born on May 21, 1913, in Winnipeg. He met his wife Julia, fell in love, and was married in 1937. He went to work for the Canadian National Railways, and after many years of loyal service, retired in 1975. Rudy enjoyed his retirement to the fullest. He and Julia took a few trips, saw some of the world, but most of all he enjoyed the company of his family and friends. Rudy loved to go fishing. He had his favourite places, and he would go there often. Throughout the years he managed to earn a great many Master Angler awards for his catches. During the summer months he would manage to get in a few rounds of golf, and during the winter you could find him at the bowling alley a couple of times a week enjoying the company of his fellow teammates. One of his greatest challenges was to bet on the horse races and make money. It was a passion with him, and I dont think he ever had a losing season. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Fred Douglas Lodge (Willow Unit) for their care of our dad, and their compassion at this time. At Rudys request, cremation has taken place and no service will be held. It has been said that "A man is too apt to forget that in this world he cannot have everything. A choice is all that is left to him." Our dad chose well. We love him and we will miss him. Gone Fishin Ive finished lifes chores assigned to me, so put me on a boat headed out to sea. Please send along my fishing pole for Ive been invited to the fishin hole. Where every day is a day to fish, to fill your heart with every wish. Dont worry, or feel sad for me, Im fishin; with the Master of the sea. We will miss each other for awhile, but you will come and bring your smile. That wont be long you will see, till were together you and me. To all of those that think of me, be happy as I go out to sea. If others wonder why Im missin just tell em Ive gone fishin. Arrangements entrusted to: Glen Eden Funeral Home 4477 Main Street 338-7111 Family and friends are invited to sign The Book of Condolences at www.gleneden-mb.ca
