Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPHYLLIS GWENDOLYN LEEDER (nee McCourt) It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Phyllis Leeder at Victoria General Hospital on September 8, 2004. Phyl was born in Carberry and moved to Winnipeg as a teenager. There she met, and in 1947 married Bill with whom she was inseparable for the next 50 years. Phyl was predeceased by her loving husband Bill, and her brother Jim McCourt. She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her daughter Gayle (Wes), granddaughter Heather, son Ron (Jan) and her many friends. Phyl made friends easily and up until the time of her death was still meeting and remembering friends from 40 to 50 years ago, as well as making new friends every year. She was extremely interested in sports, participating in baseball as a young woman and in bowling throughout her life. She actively followed most major sporting series and loved nothing more than a spirited discussion about current events. Later in life Phyl became an enthusiastic traveller. She travelled throughout parts of Canada, US, Australia and New Zealand and took great pleasure in sharing the stories of her adventures. Above all Phyl was a wife and mother and her greatest enjoyment was to see and be with her family and friends. She was a very loving and caring woman known to all for her kindness and generosity. The family is grateful for the love and concern shown by friends and neighbours and also wishes to thank the nurses, doctors and staff of the ICU Unit of the Victoria Hospital. If friends so desire memorial donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Foundation, 102 - 310 Broadway Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3G 1S6 or to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, 200-6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 14 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. A reception will follow. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE 885-9715 Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolence at www.chapellawn.mb.ca
