Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryERNEST DMYTRO PASTUCH 1931 - 2004 And He will raise you up on eagles wings. Bear you on the breath of dawn, Make you to shine like the sun, And hold you in the palm of His hand. Peacefully, after a courageous battle with diabetes and heart disease, Ernest Dmytro Pastuch, aged 73, passed away Wednesday, September 8, 2004. Ernie was born, March 1, 1931 in Winnipeg to Paraschevia (Homeniuk) and Emil Pastuch, who were founding members of the Ukrainian National Federation. Ernie is survived by his loving family, his wife Mary; daughter Barbara Pastuch and son-in-law Tim Rodgers; daughter Theresa Kennedy; and sons, Gary and Daniel. He will be sadly missed by his precious grandchildren, Mathew Kennedy and Kaleigh Rodgers; brother Ross (Bertha) and brothers-in-law, Ed and John Haykowski and Steve Luchak. Ernie was predeceased by his father (1974) and mother (1988) and brother Mike (Ann). Through the years, Ernie went to school at Faraday and Isaac Newton High School, where he enjoyed playing football and being in school plays, such as the Pirates of Penzance. On September 6, 1952, he married Mary Haykowski. Over the years, he was employed as a salesman by Frontier Meat & Sausage, Old Dutch, Northwest Bakery and at Canada Post Corporation as a mail service courier. It was at Canada Post where he was honoured with an award for his quick actions in saving a womans life. In his retirement, he played the Jumble everyday and was very well informed on world events, which made for great conversations. Dad was very creative in the kitchen and exercised his skills (aided by his Ukrainian heritage), very much to the enjoyment of his family. His secret ingredient was love. As family, we knew we were dearly loved and our spirits were always lifted by his optimism. His childrens eyes were an open book to the man who was quick to see the problem and quicker to offer advice. The family sincerely thanks Dr. F. Martin and wonderful staff at Kildonan Medical Clinic including Dr. Patricia Pittman and April Frego. A special thank you to the wonderful nurses at Seven Oaks General Hospital, 5th Floor, Unit 6, in particular to the nurses on duty the night of his passing; Danielle Holowczynski and Betty Hawrysh, for your kindness and attentive care. Bless you. In keeping with Ernies wishes, cremation will take place and a private celebration of his life will be held. Should friends desire, donations may be made in Ernies memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Association. We have many wonderful memories of our dear Ernie to cherish. Til we meet again. Do Po Bachynia Cropo Funeral Chapel 586-8044
