Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRON ANDERSON July 23, 1938 - September 7, 2004 It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Ron Anderson after a courageous battle with cancer on September 7, 2004. Ron was a fun loving person who enjoyed life and people. He leaves behind a loving family who will miss his charm, readiness to help (24 included) and his great sense of humour. He leaves behind his loving partner Carol Lutz and family; his mother Hilda Anderson; sisters, Eydie Fraser, Marilyn MacFarlane of Calgary, Gail (Dennis) Kitzul of Fort Frances, Winnie (John) Skrenski of Atikokan, Judy (Tom) Buchan of Sioux Lookout; brother Neil of Sioux Lookout; sister-in-law Joan Anderson; aunts, uncles and cousins. Uncle Ron will be sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews. Ron was predeceased by his father George and brother Al. Ron was born in Bluff Creek, MB where he resided with his parents on the farm. The family moved to Atikokan, ON in 1952 where Ron attended school. Ron left school to join the Armed Forces under the Queens Own Rifles of Canada for three years. Ron worked at various jobs in Atikokan one of which was Steep Rock Iron Mines. Being the adventurous, curious type Ron moved to Winnipeg, which ended up being his home base. He belonged to the Teamsters Union Local 213 which led him to Vancouver, Local 214 where he worked in Northern Manitoba and Local 979 from which he retired. Ron was a member all of his life of the Atikokan Legion 145, a member of ANAF Unit 1 for many years and a member of Unit 60 of ANAF in Winnipeg where he held the position of Sports Director. Ron had many interests fishing, playing music, and dancing to name a few. The Anderson trait was many great card games. A service of remembrance will be held at the ANAF Unit 60, 260 Garry St. in Winnipeg at 2:00 p.m., September 17 with Padre Gary Killen officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
