KATHERINE "KAY" EYJOLFSON (nee MOROZ) November 6, 1919 - September 10, 2004 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, amma and long amma after a long and full life on Friday, September 10, 2004, at the age of 84. Wife of the late Herbert Eyjolfson. Left to cherish her memory and remember her smile are her children, Kenneth (Pauline) of Winnipeg, MB, Patricia (James) of Ottawa, ON, Glenn (Nadine) of Riverton, MB, Gloria (Pierre) of Gatineau, QC and Lyle (Ann) of Gimli, MB; her grandchildren, Richard (Brenda), Micheal, Brendan, Courtnay (David), Leslie, Kent, Inga (Kris) and Stacie. Her beloved great-grandchildren, Alicia, Ryan, Carter, Mikayla, Jessica and Hayley. Mom was born on November 6, 1919, at the family homestead in Insinger, SK. Although Mom was brought up in a very large family during the depression her stories about those times were always remembered fondly. Her five children will always cherish her stories about the olden days. Mom was the daughter of Wasyl and Paraskevia (Mezinski) Moroz. Mom is survived by her siblings, Mary Riffell, Emma Makarchuk, Mike (Adella), Matt (Margaret), Ann (Alec) Danyluik, Olga (Art) Roberts, Adele (Ray) Burroghs, Meroslow (Marion), Walter (Natalie), Jim (Ileen), Iris (Vic) Blasco, Peter (Judi) and Jerry (Judy) sister-in-law Lillian Haynen and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Mom was also predeceased by her stepmother Dora Moroz; sisters, Annie, Bella Kisiow; brothers, Alex, Peter, Bill and Alec; brothers-in-law, John Kisiow, Alec Makarchuk, Henry Riffell, Sigurjon, Allan (Fjola), Norman Eyjolfson and Bill Haynen. Mom loved company and her door was always open to everyone. Family was very important to her and she loved when any of her children or grandchildren visited. Coffee was instantly on accompanied by her delicious baking. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was always interested in what they were doing and listened intently to stories of their many adventures. She loved talking on the phone to her daughters, Patricia and Gloria and spent many hours just "listening" as they rambled on and on. Her flowers and gardening were her passion and she loved comparing notes with Lyle. She looked forward to her visits with Kenny. They would tramp around in the garden for hours and he always went home with a bag full of dill. Most of his knowledge of picking mushrooms came from Mom. Moms yard was always pristine thanks to Glenn and his trusty riding lawn mower. She also had a keen interest in jigsaw and crossword puzzles and could put together the most intricate puzzles with ease. She loved cards and scrabble and always looked forward to her challenges with Nadine and her daughters when they came to visit. Mom had passion for the Olympics and various other sports. She especially enjoyed watching show jumping, figure skating and curling. Another interest she never tired of was watching her game shows although they were from the 1970s! One of her favourite trips was to Las Vegas for her 80th birthday and she was hoping to go again to celebrate her 85th. She also spoke fondly of the time she and Barbara Jonasson went to Japan to visit Courtnay who was on a year-long student exchange. She looked forward to her annual trips to Saskatchewan with her daughter-in-law Ann to see her family and the old homestead. Her daughter-in-law Nadine always brightened her evenings with her visits which brought out the coffee, cards, Law and Order and a bit of friendly gossip. Her faithful dog Captain will also miss her. According to Moms wishes, cremation has already taken place. Services will be held on Thursday, September 16 at 2:00 p.m. at the Riverton Fellowship Circle, 59 William Ave., Riverton with Pastor Neill von Gunton officiating. Interment will follow at the Riverton Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to the Riverton Ambulance, Box 148, Riverton, MB R0C 2R0 or to the Riverton Cemetery, Box 250, Riverton, MB R0C 2R0. Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli and Selkirk in care of arrangements.
