EUNICE GERTRUDE GRIMOLFSON After a courageous battle with cancer we are sad to announce the passing of our dear mother at the Selkirk General Hospital on Friday, September 10, 2004. Mom was born in Lundar, MB on September 28, 1928. She lived in Lundar and area before moving to Hecla Island with her husband, Olafur Grimolfson where they commercial fished and managed the lighthouse. They moved with their family to Selkirk when the lighthouse went electric. Mom always had her door open to everyone. She loved bingo, gardening, playing guitar and singing. She spent many pleasurable times with family and friends. Most of all she loved the big family Christmas celebration. Mom was a great cook. She worked on the Alberta oil rigs and fly-in fishing camps in northern Manitoba. Special pets were Chico and Stubby. Mom lived at 445 Eveline where she volunteered and ran bingo nights. She baked to raise money toward a Christmas luncheon for the residents of the block. Also she was an avid member of the local Metis Federation. Gertrude was predeceased by her parents, siblings and son, Roland. She will be sadly missed by her children, Cynthia, Charlynne, Bev, Brent, Clayton "Chug" (Pat) and Barb (Doreen) 11 grandchildren, Randy (Mary Jo), Paula (Doug), Alana, Trevor (Terry), Marnie, Mandie, Angela (Joel), Jeff, Gordie (Erin), Lisa and Marla; 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
