Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY ANTONIAK It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our dear mother, Mary Antoniak. After a courageous battle with cancer, Mom passed away peacefully on September 13, 2004 in the comfort of her home at the age of 76 years. She was held in the prayers of family and friends both near and far and was surrounded by her familys love. Mary is survived by her loving children, Pat (Mel) of Vancouver, and Glen (Patty) and Barbara of Winnipeg. Also surviving her are her sisters, Ruth, Anne (Roy) and Nancy; brothers, Mike (Ella), Nick (Susan), Stan (Mary-Lou), Maurice (Jean) brother-in-law John (Alice) sister-in-law Anna and their families. Mom was predeceased by her husband William on December 13, 1998; mother Nadia on April 30, 1998; father Paul on July 31, 2001; and sister Anastasia on April 19, 1939. Mom was born on January 22, 1928 in Kiev, Ukraine coming to Canada in 1928 with her parents and older brother Nick at the age of six months. This was the start of her travels and she carried on that love of travel throughout her entire life. She especially enjoyed her trips to Europe and her many visits with friends in Italy. During her career, mom was employed by Sun Life of Canada, Canadian National Railways and after 21 years at home raising her family she went to work for Air Canada Finance in 1976 and then retired in 1992. Mom was a loving, caring and generous person whose first concern was the well being of her family. Over the years she made many wonderful friends, who with her family, will miss her greatly. The Church and her faith were an important part of moms life. Mom was a member of the Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral of St. Ivan Suchavsky. She served as an executive on many church committees and she sang in the choir. She valued and cherished her affiliation with the church and the many friendships she made over the years. She was also a member of the Air Canada Retirement Club and the Manitoba Historical Society. Marys children would like to thank the many health care professionals who provided care for Mom. A special thanks to her doctors, Dr. Ralph Wong and Dr. Elizabeth Giesbrecht and all of the home care nurses and support staff for their loving care, compassion and kindness toward both mom and us. The care received from the health care system was outstanding and allowed mom to maintain her independence and dignity throughout her illness. Prayers will be said on Thursday, September 16 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 17 at 9:30 a.m. at the Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral of St. Ivan Suchavsky, 939 Main St. with Reverend Father Cornell Zubritsky officiating.
