Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySAVERIO (SAM) CANTAFIO Peacefully, with his children at his side, Sams valiant struggle ended on September 12, 2004 at the age of 78. He will be welcomed into Heaven by his loving companion Beryl Stefanowich. Sam was predeceased by his mother and father Ida and Frank. He is survived by and will be sadly missed by his children, Monida Price (Tom), Loretta Korenko, Frank Cantafio (Janice) and their mother Monica Cantafio; grandchildren, Jeff, Joel, Drew, Justin, Haley, Jordan and Alexis; great-grandchildren, Jessica and Abigail, Alexandra and Joshua. Also left to cherish his memory are his sisters, Lucy Mottola, Kay Sayers (Bill) and his brothers, Joe (Louise), Till (Lucille), Tony (May), and Peter; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He will be fondly remembered by many others, notably Roy Asselstine who provided unwavering friendship and support, as well as Ralph Williams and Beryls children, Cara, Carla, Roma and Julie. Sam was a proud, hard working, dedicated man. He left school at an early age to help his parents to provide for their family. He was employed by CNR for 43 years, retiring in 1985. Sam enjoyed his retirement immensely and had opportunity to travel to Mexico and Florida. He was a humble man who enjoyed simple pleasures. He especially treasured his time with Beryl, his family and friends at Spruce Sands Trailer Park. IT-UL-DO as he fondly named it, was his paradise - his labour of love and will leave happy memories for all, especially his grandchildren. Sam will be remembered by all for his honesty and dry wit, but our Dad and Grandpa will be remembered foremost for his giving and compassionate nature. We will miss you Grandpa Sam and you will remain forever in our hearts. The family wishes to express their gratitude for the wonderful care and compassion provided by Dr. Tan and Dr. Wiebe and their associates, Cheryl (Snoopy Mom) of GH6 ward and all of the medical ICU nursing staff who lightened Dads final journey at the Health Sciences Centre, who are all truly special people. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 16 at 2:00 p.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home, Hwy. No. 1 East at Navin Road with Rev. Fr. Fred Olds officiating. A private family interment will follow in Green Acres Cemetery.
