JAMES LESLIE POWELL MUNN It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James Munn. Jim passed away peacefully, Sunday, September 12, 2004 at St. Boniface Hospital, surrounded by the love of his family and friends. Jim was born November 2, 1925 to Walter and Dorothy Munn. He is predeceased by his parents; his beloved wife Edna (January 1987) and his sister Dorothy Hotas. Jim leaves to cherish his memory his son Robert, wife Cheryl, grandchildren, Shelley (Russel) and Paul; his brother Walter (Bev) his dear friend Faye Bennett and her family and several nieces and nephews. Jim was a wonderful Dad, Grandpa, brother and friend. He was always there for each of us. He enthusiastically supported and encouraged all of our endeavours. He was always there to lend a hand or give advice. We are all better people for knowing him. Jim began his employment career with the CNR as an apprentice boiler maker. He left the CNR to enlist and serve in the navy during the Second World War. Following the war, Jim worked for the T. Eaton Co. In 1954 Jim went to North Star Oil which later became Shell Oil St. Boniface Refinery. Following retirement from Shell, Jim was employed at Winnipeg Hydro, The Department of Labour, and The Winnipeg International Airport. Jim was a member of Windsor Masonic Lodge #138 A.F. & A.M. for over 50 years. He was a former Grand Chief of the Universal Craftsman Council of Engineers. Jim attended and was active in the life of St. Marys Road United Church. Jim was an avid golfer and enjoyed his last game Friday morning. We wish to thank those who came to his aid at Windsor Golf course, emergency responders, the doctors and nurses of emergency and the SICU who all did their best for our beloved Jim.
