ALBERT SCHMIDT (SMITH) Albert Schmidt passed away peacefully on Monday, September 13, 2004 at the Beausejour & District Hospital. He was born on June 23, 1920 in Green Bay, MB. Albert is survived by his brothers and sisters, Walter and wife Elaine, Beausejour; Herbert and wife Margery, Winnipeg; Lilly, Winnipeg; Anne Andrest, Winnipeg and Esther Bachman, Beausejour; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Henry Schmidt in 1961 and Emillie Schmidt in 1995; his brothers, Harry Schmidt in 1991, Bill Smith in 2004; and his sister Hilda Tittlemeir in 1991. Albert served in the Canadian Armed Forces during the Second World War, later working on the family farm in Green Oak until his retirement. He enjoyed farming and visiting with his friends. Upon his retirement, he moved into Armstrong Manor in Beausejour. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 16 at 2:00 p.m.at the Sobering Funeral Chapel, Beausejour, MB with Pastor Hugh Laidlaw officiating. Friends may view one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at the St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery, Green Bay. Special thanks to the home care staff who assisted Albert, especially Barbara, Catherine and Lorraine and to the staff of the Beausejour Health Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations in Alberts memory may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or to the Beausejour & District Hospital.
