MARLYN E. WADDELL (nee CUTTING) Sperling, MB Sadly, on September 14, 2004, Marlyn lost her brave battle with cancer at the Boundary Trails Health Centre, at the age of 62 years. She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Ken; two daughters, Jacquelin (Gordon) Russell, precious grandchildren, Brent and Kaitlin; Jo-Ann Waddell and partner Fred Cummer, all of Sperling. Marlyn is also survived by her mother Annie Cutting of Carman; sister Gwenda Johnston of Rathwell; and sister-in-law Barbara Kee (Ken) of Trenton, ON. She was also a special aunt to several nieces and nephews. Marlyn was predeceased by her dad Earl Cutting; and brother-in-law Murray Johnston. Marlyn was born October 22, 1941, in Carman, MB, growing up and attending school in Carman. Upon completion of high school, she took a hairdressing course in Winnipeg. On May 7, 1960, she married Ken Waddell of Sperling, where they farmed and raised their family. Marlyn was in her glory gardening, bending willow, capturing the essence of prairie farm life on film, and in the writings of people she met along the way. She felt privileged to have her pictures and articles printed in several farm papers. Marlyn had a love of all animals, making sure birds and squirrels were fed and stray animals had shelter and food in the cold months. Funeral service will be held from the Carman United Church in Carman on Saturday, September 18 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Catherine Waldie officiating. Interment will take place in Sperling Cemetery. Lunch will follow in the Sperling Community Hall. Thank-you to Dr. Woelk, nurses and the many health care professionals of the Cancer Support and Palliative care team at Boundary Trails Health Centre. Special thank-you to Barh Hicks.
