Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY NICKOLIS ISRAEL (nee FORREST) Mary passed away peacefully at Mt. Tolmie Hospital on September 14, 2004 at the age of 93. She was predeceased by her husband Vern; her parents, Jean and Simon; brothers, Sam (her twin), Bob, John, Bill and her sister Margaret. She will be sadly missed by her daughter Ellen (Ben) son Ray; grandchildren, Susan (friend Dave), Donna (Errol), Dawn (Terry), Andrew, Kristi (Mike) and great-grandchildren, Tate, Drew, Amanda and Jakob. She is survived by her sisters, Nona (Chuck), Edith and Nancy, and many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. Mary was born March 7, 1911 in Fairlight, SK, the eldest of 10 children. She spent most of her young days on the family farm in Niverville, MB. In 1936 she married Vern Israel and they farmed successfully for many years in Rosser, MB. Vern and Mary moved to Winnipeg where Mary made many cherished and life long friends. Mary moved to Victoria in 1997. Marys greatest passions were cooking and baking. Nothing pleased her more than entertaining family and friends around a dinner table, followed by a friendly (and often competitive) game of cards. Friends were extremely important to her. She took great delight in remembering all the important dates in their lives, and always looked forward to their phone calls, letters and cards. The family would like to pay tribute to all those in the health care system who cared for Mom so well. Thanks to Dr. James, Madeline Shorthill and the outstanding team at Mt. Tolmie Hospital, and on behalf of Mary a special thanks to Maureen, Prem, Lynne and Tina. Funeral service for Mary will be held at Sands of West Shore Funeral Chapel, 317 Goldstream Ave., Victoria, BC at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 21. Interment to follow at Hatley Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marys memory to a charity of your choice. COUNT YOUR AGE BY FRIENDS, NOT YEARS JUDGE YOUR LIFE BY SMILES, NOT TEARS SANDS OF WEST SHORE (250) 478-3821
