RAY ALFRED JENSEN It is with sorrow that the family of Ray Jensen announces his death on September 15, 2004, at his farm near Amaranth, MB. Memorial service will be held in the Chapel of the Omega Funeral Home, Portage la Prairie, MB, on Monday, September 20 at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Margaret Scott officiating. Cremation has taken place and a private family interment will take place prior to the service. Ray was born on January 18, 1940, in Winnipeg, MB. He was the youngest child of Alfred and Nell (Hewett) Jensen of Oak Bluff, MB. Ray was raised in Oak Bluff and received his education there. On April 28, 1962, Ray and Marlene (Markusson) were married. Ray entered the work force at an early age in the heavy construction industry. For a number of years he was a fire fighter with the Fort Garry Fire Department. He returned to the construction industry, and several years ago he and Marlene bought a farm. Ray especially liked the farm and took great pleasure and pride in the cattle he raised. Ray was a good mechanic; it has been said that if Ray couldnt fix it, it couldnt be fixed. Ray spent many hours in his shop, and he enjoyed restoring antique tractors. Ray and Marlene had many good times square dancing, fishing at their cabin on Lake Manitoba and playing cards with family and friends. Ray was predeceased by his father and mother Alfred and Nell Jensen; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law Finnur and Gudrun Markusson. His loving wife Marlene; their sons, Mark (Dana) and Donald (Sandy) as well as grandchildren, Megan, Jeff and Kelsey Jensen survive Ray. He is also survived by his brother Norman (Myrna) of Dawson Creek, BC, his brother Lloyd (Alice) of Winnipeg; his sister Wilma (Ken) Horton of Winnipeg, and their families. Marlenes sisters, Jona (Ben) Borgford and Lorraine (Leonard) Bardarson and their families also survive him. Donations in lieu of flowers, should friends so wish, can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, Catherine Newham-Portage Office, 103 Wilkinson Cres., Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 1A7, or the Oak Bluff Cemetery, Box 100, Sanford, MB R0G 2J0.
