MARY GERMAN October 20, 1919 - September 16, 2004 After a brief illness Mary passed away at Riverview Health Centre. Mary is survived by her devoted children Paul (Bev), Bonnie (Barry), Bob (Gina), Lovie (Greg), grandchildren, sister Helen and brother John. Mary was predeceased by her husband John, son John, grandson Kyle, daughter Ann, and her parents Elsie and William, as well as her partner of many years Chester. Mary was born, raised and attended school in Tolstoi Manitoba where she married her husband John. Mary was a person of many interests and talents. She was able to utilize her green thumb and love of gardening in caring for and transplant greenhouse plants at Goberts Greenhouse. She worked as an aid to the residents of Middle Church Home where her kind ways would have been a gift to all of those she met with. She was also employed by her entrepreneurial nephew Harold, at Portage Markets where she contributed to the growth and success of the business. Thankfully Mary was willing to share the trade secrets of her delicious, authentic Ukrainian food dishes with her family, thereby ensuring the tradition would be carried on for generations. In later years Mary and Chester enjoyed their families, fishing trips to Dryden Ontario, weekend trips to Shooting Star, strolling along and socializing at the local mall. One of her happiest experiences, most recently, was meeting new friends and participating in the joyful activities and excursions at Lions Manor. Mary was a loyal friend, a truly loving, generous mother and grandmother. She will live on in our hearts as we pass on her traditions and values. We wish to express our sincere thanks to all of the staff at the Lions Manner, Lori, Dr. Woo and the Diabetic Education Centre, Homecare Nurses and Riverview Centre staff for their care of Mom in the last few months. Funeral service and interment will take place September 21, 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home. The family asks that you please come and join us for a time of remembering Mom for being just who she was. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marys memory may be made to The Diabetes, Heart, Cancer Foundations or Charity of your choice.
