Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPEARL WERBENUK (nee FUZ) October 7, 1911 - September 17, 2004 It is with deep sorrow and sadness we announce the sudden passing (heart attack) of our dear mother, grandmother and great-grandmother with her family by her side on Friday, September 17, 2004 at the Gimli Community Health Centre. She will always be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her four daughters, Natalie Zawatski (Michael) of Winnipeg, her twin daughters, Margaret and Verna Werbenuk, who lived with her until her passing, and Anna Chmilowsky (John) of Fraserwood; her grandson Grant Chmilowsky (Gaileen) of Minneapolis, MN; granddaughter Tracy Castelein (Alphonse) of Teulon, MB; and by her great-grandchildren, James, Jonathon and Saraya Chmilowsky. She also leaves to mourn her sisters, Mary Skibinski of Fisher Branch, Marge Procillo of Winnipeg, Joyce Skrabek (James) of Hillside Beach; brothers, Tony (Antonia) and Mike Fuz of Poplarfield, MB; as well as many nieces and nephews. We thank her nieces, Virginia Zambik and Julia Gulay for their many visits which she so much enjoyed. Pearl was predeceased by her mother in 1948, her father in 1969, her husband John in 1995, sister Anne Capar, her brother Steve and by her infant grandson John in 1967. Born in Poplarfield, Pearl moved to Fraserwood with her husband John in 1944. There they owned the Tourist Hotel for 31 years. Pearl was the first woman bartender in an all mens pub in the Province of Manitoba. Pearl will be fondly remembered for her cooking, kindness, sense of humour and genuine hospitality. She lived for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A visit from them was so very special to her. She was very caring and loving. Viewing and funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 22 at 10:30 a.m. at the Gilbart Funeral Home, 50-1st Ave., Gimli, MB with Rev. John Melnyk officiating. Interment will follow in the Fraserwood Community Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Crohns and Colitis Foundation of Manitoba. The family would like to thank the many home care workers, RNs and doctors who cared for Pearl in her time of need. You all held a "special place" in her heart. Thank you Mom, Grandma and Great-Grandma for everything you did for us. We are better people because of you and your great love for us. We will never forget you. Ever. You will always be our inspiration. Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli in care of arrangements.
