JACOB R. TOEWS October 16, 1908 - September 15, 2004 Jacob R. Toews was born to John and Katherina (Giesbrecht) Toews, in Wymark, Saskatchewan. He grew up in Southern Manitoba and farmed in the New Hope and Eigenhof area until his retirement to Altona in 1972. He was predeceased by his wife Helena (Hiebert) in 2000, daughter Margaret in 1950, a son John in infancy in 1949, grandson Russel Toews in 1964, granddaughter-in-law Tanya Toews in 2001, and by five brothers and four sisters. He is survived by son Neil (Susan) Toews; seven daughters, Helen (John) Braun, Mary (Ron) Unger, Cathy (Abe) Kehler, Eve, Elly (Stellios) Missirlis, Frieda (Horst) Scholz, Bertha (Keith) Lewis; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; foster sister Agatha Thiessen of Winkler; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday September 21 at the EMM Church, 158 2nd St. N.E. in Altona, Pastor Gary Klassen officiating. Wiebe Funeral Home Altona in care of arrangements.
