Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLESLIE RISKIN 1926 - 2004 It is with profound sadness the family of Les Riskin announces his passing at Health Sciences Centre, Saturday, September 18, 2004. He was predeceased by his mother and father, Molly and Israel Riskin; and twin grandsons, Austin and Baldwin Riskin. Leaving to mourn his loss are his wife Betty; sons, Irv. (Dianne), Abby and Hannah; Sheldon (Karen), Daniel, Lisa; sister Bea Polansky (Morris), Toronto, ON; nieces, Perri Polansky, Los Angeles, CA, Sherin (Norm) Garber, Las Vegas, NV; nephew Adam Greenberg, Toronto; brothers-in-law, Ralph Sotolov (Gita), Dr. Louis Sotolov (Riva), Palm Springs, CA; and many other nieces and nephews. Les was employed by the Department of National Defence. After 37 years of service he retired in 1989. Him and Betty travelled to Palm Springs where they spent lovely winter vacations together. Les was a great human being, delighted in helping others. He belonged to the Lions Cavalcade for Diabetes, Seven Oaks Lions Club, was a member of the General Monash Branch Royal Canadian Legion, committee member of the Jewish War Veterans of Canada and was a board member of the Monash Manor. Les also drove for Meals on Wheels for 10 years, which he thoroughly enjoyed doing. The family would like to express their thanks to the doctors and nurses of the MICU unit and the GBA ward. Graveside service was held on September 21 at Hebrew Sick Cemetery. Les, Dad, Papa and Zaida, your absence in our lives will forever leave a void. You will be sadly missed by us all. If there were two words to describe Leslie they would be "Good Samaritan."
