REGINA SUMKA Peacefully on Sunday, September 19, 2004, Regina Sumka passed unto eternal rest at the Seven Oaks Hospital. Regina was born in Poland and married John Sumka in 1932 in Skylake, MB. They farmed there until 1971, when her beloved husband passed away. She moved to Winnipeg shortly thereafter, to be close to her children and their families, whom she enjoyed until her passing. Regina had compassion for the birds, feeding and watching them eat. She was a very active member of several senior citizens groups in Winnipeg. Regina leaves to mourn her passing four sons, Edward (Steffie), Stanley (friend Pam), Tony (Diane) and Teddy (Shirley), Arborg, MB; four daughters, Helen (Joe) Leduchowski, Dauphin, MB, Marie (Gary) Griffin, Alice (Lawrence), Maksymetz and Lillian (Dave) Kitchen; and daughter-in-law Diane. She also leaves to mourn 24 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren plus numerous nieces and nephews. Regina was predeceased by her husband John in 1971; parents, John and Rosalia Rostkowski; and three sisters, Mini, Lena and Nellie. She was also predeceased by two grandchildren, Kyle Griffin and Larry Sumka. The family would like to express their thanks and appreciation to the staff at Seven Oaks Hospital Palliative Care Centre, Units 1 and 2, for their caring and kindness and also to Dr. Bhanot and Dr. Patel. Special thanks to Ingrid Kapun for being a special friend to Regina and the family. Prayers will be said on Wednesday, September 22, at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 23, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Parish, Bannerman and Arlington, with interment to follow at All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Reginas memory to the St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Parish. Vichnaya Pamyat CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
