JOHN PATRICK DOHERTY Regretfully, the family announces the sudden passing of John Doherty on Friday, September 17, 2004, at the age of 71 years. John was predeceased by his first wife Shirley Doherty. He will be lovingly remembered by his beloved wife Esther; children, Tracy (Harvey) Larabee, Shelly (Rob) Nisbet, Roberta Doherty (Ron Grenier) his step-children, Kim, Linda and Lorrie; his grandchildren, Maureen, A.J. Larabee, Shirley, Lindsey, Maddey-Lynn Nisbet, David Grenier; one great-grandson Ethan Nisbet; brothers, Robert, Allan, Milton, David Sideen; and his sisters, Evelyn Niemi and Barb Squires. John was an operating engineer and is a member of the local 987 Operating Engineers of Manitoba. He was also actively involved in writing and developing a new Safety Standards Manual for crane operation that should be used across Canada for training operators that are just learning the trade, as well as operators already in the industry running cranes. John was also a field instructor for Prairie Equipment Training, he was very well respected throughout the industry by everyone he worked with and met. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 23, 2004 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd., (south of the Royal Canadian Mint). Interment will take place in Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the reception centre. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society.
