MARILYN JOYCE EVENSON It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Marilyn Joyce Evenson (nee Mountain) on September 20, 2004. Left to mourn her passing are her loving husband Bill; daughters, Cynthia Smith, Sherry Hope, Kimberly Tavalino and son David; as well as sons-in-law, Tom Hope and Jay Tavalino. In addition, left to mourn her passing are her cherished grandchildren, Nicole Hope, Stephanie Tavalino, Diana Smith, Jessica Hope, Katelynn Evenson, Toni Smith, Anthony Tavalino, Zachary Hope, Christopher Tavalino, Emily Tavalino and Maggie Hope. Also remaining behind are her brother John Mountain; sisters-in-law, Jill Mountain, Darlene Kazimer and Kathleen Kirkham and brother-in-law Patrick Kazimer. Marilyn was predeceased by her mother Edna May Mountain; her father Arthur Mountain and her father and mother-in-law Orville and Lena Evenson. Born in Winnipeg July 25, 1942 she lived in Winnipeg, Toronto, Vancouver, Ashern and returned to Winnipeg where she joined the navy in January 1962. It was while serving in Halifax that she met her husband Bill in September 1962 and they were married April 27, 1963. Prior to the birth of their first daughter, Marilyn left the navy to become a full time wife and mother and for the following 29 years until they retired from the military she had two more daughters and one son while coping with the stresses of military life. She looked forward to the postings and the challenges each provided. She lived her life with passion, compassion and a willingness to help others in their time of need. Along the way, she made friends, with too many to mention, but be assured she remembered and cherished them all. Marilyn will be greatly missed by those she left behind but will never be forgotten. Cremation has taken place and in accordance with her wishes a small service attended by her immediate family was held. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Grace Hospital Emergency Room and the Intensive Care Unit for their kind and compassionate care of Marilyn in her final hours. In lieu of flowers, Marilyn has requested donations to The Heart and Stroke Foundation, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6. Rest in peace my darling, for you have surely earned it.
