LEONA GREEN Leona Green, aged 78, of Stratford, ON, passed away at the Stratford General Hospital on Sunday, September 19, 2004, after a short illness. Beloved sister of Sue Shklov, Leonard Green, Sidney and Shleema Green and Sylvia and Herb Horwich; loving auntie to Adina, Avi, Janet, Barb, Shane, Arthur, Marty, Mindy, Cathy, Sharon and their spouses and children; predeceased by her sister Clara and her brother-in-law Rubin. Leona grew up on Selkirk Avenue in Winnipeg. As a school teacher in Montreal for over 20 years, she touched the lives of many students. After retiring she moved to Stratford where she was a longtime member of the Horticultural and Historical Societies and the Scrabble Club. She attended the Stratford Festival since its early years and was a regular participant in the McMaster Stratford seminars. Leona was a strong and loving presence in the lives of her family. Her intelligence, boundless generosity and indomitable spirit were an enduring inspiration to her family and many friends. The funeral service will be held at the Heinbuck Funeral Home, 156 Albert St., Stratford, on Tuesday, September 21 at 11:00 a.m. followed by interment at Avondale Cemetery, Stratford.
