Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALEXANDER (ALEC) HIRSCH Peacefully, after a brief illness, Alec passed away on Tuesday, September 21, 2004 at the age of 84. Alec was predeceased by his parents, Reinhold and Martha; his brother Ludwig; and his son Gunter. He is survived by his wife Hulda; his children, Manfred (Mary), Ingrid (Russel) Dyck, Helga (Jake) Klassen, Rita (Victor) Giesbrecht, Alvin (Angie) and daughter-in-law Arlene; 16 grandchildren; two brothers; three sisters; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Alec was born in Weide, Germany on October 6, 1919, the oldest of seven children and the only one to move to Canada. Alec and Hulda were married in Germany on May 23, 1947, a union blessed by six children, three boys and three girls. They immigrated to Canada in 1952 with two young sons in tow. After six months in Ontario, they settled in Winnipeg in 1953 where the remainder of the children were born. A lifelong entrepreneur, Alec began a trucking business delivering coal, and soon expanded to a fleet of gravel trucks, working in Northern Manitoba. In the mid 1970s, he was joined in "M & H Cartage" by his sons, Manfred and Gunter, and together they later established M & H Rentals and Paragon Industries. Dad loved his work, especially working side by side with his sons. He also thoroughly enjoyed all the people he became acquainted with over the years. Our large family get-togethers were very special to Alec, and he always loved to have his children and grandchildren drop in or come over for a meal. He will be missed by all of us. A special thank you to the staff at Concordia Hospital. Dad often commented on their kindness and the excellent care he received. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, September 27 at the North Kildonan Mennonite Brethren Church, 1315 Gateway Rd., with viewing prior. Interment in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to "Back to the Bible". Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN EDEN FUNERAL HOME 4477 MAIN STREET 338-7111 Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolences at www.gleneden-mb.ca.
