FREDERICK JAMES SHOEMAKER Mr. Frederick James Shoemaker of Brandon, formerly of Elkhorn, MB, passed away on Monday, September 20, 2004 at the Assiniboine Centre, with his beloved wife Effie, at his side. He was born to parents Frederick and Laura on February 23, 1921 in Georgetown, ON and moved at an early age to the Arawana District. On June 9, 1945, Fred married Effie (Birchall) and they shared 59 years together. He is also survived by sons, Jim (Donna) of Steinbach, MB; Darryl (Rhonda) of Irvine, AB; Kevin (Cindy) of Winnipeg, MB; daughters, Valerie (Vic) Nissen of Courtenay, BC; Monica (Ken) Flamand of Brandon; Brenda (Bob) Fiddler of Somerset, MB; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Bernice, Vera and Flora Shoemaker, Joyce Young and numerous nieces and nephews. Fred was predeceased by his parents, Frederick and Laura; infant son, Mark; brothers, Arthur, Lawrence, Norman, Robert and sister Irene. Fred was a longtime member of the B.P.O. Elks and an honorary member of the Royal Purple Lodge of Canada. He was a devoted husband, a loving and caring father and grandfather, a loyal friend, and he will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of his life will be held at the Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332-8th St., Brandon, on Friday, September 24 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Harold Nightingale officiating. A reception for family and friends will take place at Central United Church, 327-8th St., followed by the urn placement at the Brandon Cemetery Columbarium. Flowers are gratefully declined.
