ROBERT J. STE. MARIE Born January 24, 1914 in St. Boniface, passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 21, 2004 at Riverview Health Centre after a short illness. He is survived by his brother Ted of Toronto; his loving wife of 64 years Erma; his son Bill and wife Lorraine of Los Angeles; grandchildren, Greg (Karen) and Leslie (Kevin) of Vancouver and his daughter Lorna and husband Gary, grandsons, Michel and Terrell (Helen). Bob spent his working life as an electrician with CNR retiring in 1979. It was not only his trade as an electrician but his remarkable ability to turn his hand to anything that resulted in a large amount of his own time being spent helping with volunteer building projects and creating or repairing anything that his family and friends needed help with. A lifelong resident of Transcona, he enjoyed his garden and summers at the Brereton Lake family cottage. As a husband, father, grandfather and friend, he will always be remembered for his kindness, quiet generosity and good humour which he maintained right to the end. The family wishes to express its thanks to the palliative care staff at Riverview Health Centre for their committed care-giving and the palliative Home Care nurses and Health Care aides who, with Dr. J. Mulder, made his final days easier. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cancer Care Manitoba or the Riverview Health Centre Foundation.
