PETER FREDERICK THOMAS LAMPRELL With sadness we announce the passing of our dear husband, father and grandfather, on September 21, 2004 peacefully at home, with his family by his side. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 48 years, Jacqueline (Jackie) two daughters, Dorothy Stephens (Michael) of Winnipeg, and Beverly Catellier (Guy) of Dufrost, MB; four grandchildren, Ryan and Laura Stephens and Olivia and Jayden Catellier; his sister, Daphne James of Edmonton AB; brother-in-law Stanley Scudder (Elizabeth) of Shuswap Lake, B.C., and several nieces and nephews. Peter was predeceased by his parents, Dorothy and Sidney Lamprell, and his brother-in-law Arthur James. Born on January 29, 1922 in St. James, he attended Linwood School and graduated in 1940. He then enlisted in the R.C.A.F. and trained at Trenton, Ontario as a fitter-armourer, following which he was stationed in Mossbank and Dafoe, Saskatchewan. In February 1942, he went overseas with the 406 Squadron, attaining the rank of Sergeant. After returning to Canada in 1945, he became a Graduate Jeweller of the Canadian Jewellers Institute, and worked in the retail jewellery business at Breslauer and Warren for 38 years, retiring in 1987. Peter was a Past Master of St James Masonic Lodge No. 121 and received his 50-year Jewel in 2000. He was also a Past First Principal in St Johns Chapter, a Royal Arch Mason for over 50 years and a life member of the Cryptic Rite. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion for over 55 years, first with the Deer Lodge Branch and latterly with the St James Branch. After retirement he was active in the Air Force Association, proudly participating in the Garden of Memories ceremony in 1999. The family would like to thank all those who helped make Peters last months comfortable and enabled him to stay home right up to the end; in particular the nurses and therapists on the palliative care team and at the Grace cancer clinic, the health care aides from home care and Central Health, the staff and residents of the Westhaven, and Dr M Stephensen. A memorial service will be held at the Church of Stephen and St Bede on Friday October 1st at 11:00 a.m. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Manitoba Division, 193 Sherbrook Street, R3C 2B7 or the Winnipeg Humane Society 7 Kent Street, R2L 1X3. Neil Bardal inc. 949-2200
