MARIA GERMANA DIOGO December 4, 1925 - September 25, 2004 Peacefully with her family by her side, Maria passed away on September 25, 2004, at the Health Sciences Centre at the age of 78 years. Maria is survived her sons, Pedro (Maria), Jose (Natalie) and John (Cindy) daughter Maria (Paul) grandchildren, Peter (Belinda) and Jennifer; Jose Manuel (Meghan), Paul and Michael; Amanda, Tanya and Rebecca; great-grandchildren, Olivia, Alisa, Brett, Riley and Samantha; sister Alexandrinha Mota; brother Hermano De Jesus; sisters-in-law, Angela, Urania, Maria Jose, Ursulina, Constantina and Maria Lurdes; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Jose Diogo; brother Manuel and her parents, Maria Clara and Joao. Maria was born in Sao Miguel, Acores and came to Canada in 1965 with her family. She devoted her time to her family, caring for all her grandchildren on a full-time basis. Maria loved cooking, sewing, gardening and telling old-world stories to her family at any time. She also loved to pass on old Portuguese recipes. The family would like to thank the staff at the Seven Oaks Hospital and especially Dr. Finlayson. Also the staff on GH4 ward at the Health Sciences Centre for all their care and compassion. Prayers will be held on Monday, September 27 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 28 at 10:30 a.m.at Blessed John XXIII Roman Catholic Church, 3390 Portage Ave., with Rev. Msgr. M. Comeault, P.H., V.F. as celebrant. Interment to follow in Assumption Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marias memory to Kidney Foundation of Canada or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
